The 6 best Restaurants in Mallorca

The 6 best Restaurants in Mallorca

Well, where do I start. When we took off for our Mallorca trip, I expected to praise this island for its amazing food and the variety of healthy and especially veggie meals.

When in Mallorca – Reality meets expectation.

Little did I know. There were days I absolutely did not know what to eat because deep-frozen pizza margarita was the only available option. Of course, touristic places all over will never be famous for their high-level cuisines. Mallorca’s south-eastern part was the worst: Seafood and meat everywhere, no veggie options at all. It was a huge disappointment. For me, traveling and discovering new places always means eating, tasting and falling in love with new herbs, variations and meals. After 2 days full of disappointments, I started to research like crazy to find the best veggie and vegan options all over the island. Of course, the restaurants and bars I chose do not only serve veggie food. You can also find sea food and meat lover options at most of these places.

FOOD IS OUR COMMON GROUND. A UNIVERSAL EXPERIENCE.

And now, spot on our amazing findings:

1. Mama Carmens

  • Location: Palma de Mallorca
  • Address: Carrer de Cervantes 21 Bajos, Palma de Mallorca (Santa Catalina) 07013
  • Opening hours:  Monday – Friday: 8am – 4 pm, Saturday & Sunday: 8.30pm – 2 pm
  • More information: http://mamacarmen.es

When we arrived at the airport very early we were kind of starving. I started to research about veggie and vegan friendly places in Palma. Mama Carmen’s is situated in Santa Catalina, approximately a 25 minutes’ walk from the city center – trust me: It is absolutely worth a few extra steps. This place offers around 20 seats on a very cute square, covered in trees. My personal highlight: The menu. I was amazed by the broad variety of vegetarian, gluten free-friendly and vegan food: From fresh beet root bread, homemade granola to avo-on-toast and smoothies.  The staff was very friendly and every meal was served with love and a huge smile. In addition to that, they make really good coffee – and that’s quite rare on this island. The interior of the Mama Carmens is styled with an industrial chic, but still a very homey feel – the whole atmosphere is airy and welcoming. Our conclusion: Delightful food, excellent service mixed with a great smile. My personal recommendation.

2. NENI Mallorca

  • Location: Port de Soller
  • Address: CARRER DE MIGJORN, 2 / 07108 PORT DE SÓLLER, ILLES BALEARS, SPAIN
  • Reservation: neni.mallorca@bikini-hotels.com or via phone +34 971 638 370
  • More information: www.bikini-hotels.com/eat-and-drink

As we had the amazing honor to stay at the Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel where the NENI Mallorca is situated in, we had to try the restaurant itself. The whole concept is very special – Lebanese food meets hippie flair. The urban style is accompanied by jungle feelings and cool vibes. We really liked this place, especially the view. The restaurant is located on the rooftop and the view is quite breathtaking as you are overlooking the bay of Port de Soller.

We ordered the amazing hummus variation and different starters. The menu offers a huge variety of middle eastern delicacies. The food was great, but nothing compared to the view and whole location itself. The staff was very hospitable, attentive and caring – we asked for a wine recommendation and it was the perfect fit. The menu is quite pricy but good quality for the money. I also have to highlight the music: Relaxed techno sound really spices up the classy but quirky atmosphere. We are definitely coming back!

3. Café Parisien

Coincidentally, we discovered this gem. As the pedestrian zone in the city center of Arta is quite touristy, we were really skeptical when we have seen this nice café at first. We entered and then spotted this beautiful, shaded courtyard garden. To be honest: I was love at first sight. This place is magical, charming and quiet in a really frequented tourist area. After I took around 75 pictures of this really photogenic place, we chose salad and pasta. I had an amazing combination of goat cheese, nuts and oranges and he tried fresh pasta. It was delightful and all served ingredients fresh.

The menu offers loads of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options and also very traditional dishes for meat lovers. They even serve guacamole (a dish I really missed on this island). The conclusion is: the beautiful garden with jasmine and grape vines is responsible for, to be honest, 75% of the amazeness. But: Food was great and I really recommend the coffee: They even offer soy milk. Yihaa!

4.  Sa Cova Bar & Restaurant

  • Location: Santanyi
  • Address: Plaça Major, 4, 07650 Santanyí, Illes Balears, Spanien
  • Opening hours: Open daily from Monday to Saturday: 9 am – 12 pm – Closed on Sundays
  • More Information: www.sacova-santanyi.com/

The Sa Cova Bar – there is not so much to say about the interior or the locations itself, but the food was more than amazing: fresh tapas, a huge breakfast and brunch menu and fresh, delicious dishes. I had the best BurrataI could ever imagine. The restaurant is hidden in the corner of the market place in the middle of Satanyi. The menu offers variations for veggies and vegans and is not touristy at all. Yummieness!

5. Sera Restaurant

  • Location: Es Llombards
  • Address: Carrer de Son Amer, 1907690 Es Llombards
  • Opening hours: Open daily from Monday to Saturday: 11 am – 11 pm – Closed on Tuesdays
  • More information: www.restaurant-sera.com

The Sera Restaurant is located in Es Llombards, a 15 minutes drive from the famous Es Trenc beach. As it was not too chic, we decided to stop there on our way home from the beach. We were lucky enough to get a table for two. The absolute highlight was: They offer a vegan paella – my veggie heart was definitely beating a little bit faster than usual. The charming restaurant has a nice backyard and garden. The whole atmosphere is quite cozy and not too classy. There is a free parking space enclosed, a huge plus as it is often hard to find a parking space in the tiny cities. The staff was very, very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you are vegan or vegetarian and don’t want to miss a very tasty paella.

6. Gran Café & Restaurant Cassai

  • Location: Ses Salines
  • Address: C/ Sitjar 5 Ses Salines 07640, Illes Balears, España
  • Reservations: reservas@cassai.es or via phone: +34 971 64 97 21
  • More information: cassai.es/

There is only one word needed to sum up this place: PERFECTION. This place is a total must go if you are traveling the island. The second you enter the place you are falling in love with the details. I was totally overwhelmed by the interior and accessories you find all over the place. I was taking so many pictures that I even missed ordering food. Haha. Just kidding.  The whole concept of the Gran Café & Restaurant is a very well-balanced combination of fresh, Mediterranean cuisine and rustic but modern interior. This place is a huge surprise if you cross this small, but cute town. The best thing about this place was, that you actually see the love of the owners, the architect and the staff. The food was flawless: I tried the Burrata (once again) and I loved every bite: fresh, but surprising dressing and a really good value for the money. The menu is quite pricy but totally worth it. The menu offers from tapas to pizza, from ravioli to burger, seafood and deserts. Everything a foodie’s heart desires!
